While I agree that the Internet offers a medium of communication that is wholly unique I take some exception to your characterization of the 'they' who control the media. I think the media presents what people will buy, as simply as that. The media doesn't run the nations views, they are a reflection of them. I simply don't believe the people of America are propagandized by the 'they' in the media. We all have the abilities to voice our own thoughts via the media but it has typically been a time consuming process. Connections with people must be made, editorials must be sent and hopefully published, and some response from the public must be elicited before your voice is heard. But now we can avoid all the ancient mechansims, switch on the internet and cry our fool heads off, and other people, many other people can instantly hear that voice. Of course one must remember that with such power may come unexpected results. As the great Mark Twain once said 'tis better to sit quietly and appear stupid than to open ones' mouth and remove all doubt'. A lesson i have learned the hard way during my intellectual sojourns on the WEB. Later. Bob
