Ah, yes, but 'they' don't pay the media's bills, we do! We either buy the products advertised or we don't. If we buy them then they will continue to advertise, if we don't then they can't. This is a consumer driven economy, If the media is beholden to its advertisers then the advertisers are beholden to the consumers. It is we who hold the key to their messages. If we don't like the messages we don't respond by spending our resources on them. What is irksome to me, and maybe this is your point, is that we have National Enquirers out there because people want to read trash. Of course certain advertisers benefit from this trash dispersal. I agree there is very little benefit to society inherent in a weekly such as the enquirer, but as long as the consumer demands it, we will continue to see it at the grocery checkout. Educating people is the key to erasing this 'fools gold' consumerism. We haven't changed the way we educate our young for a very long time, in my view it is the content of the education that is lacking. As the point I made the other night to you, 'George Washington most certainly could tell a lie, and he did', there are no perfect people. We continue to teach our youngsters that there are and can be, wrong! Bob P
