Across the globe on Sunday evening, a rolling wave of candlelight will sweep over the world as over 3906 communities in 110 countries (at last count)express their concern that there has got to be a better way to fight terrorism and bring democracy to Iraq than bombing them.

Join your Oak Square neighbors to be part of a quiet vigil, not rally, from 7 - 7:30PM. Bring a candle, and paper cups to protect fingers from wax and flames from the wind.

According to current plans, a war with Iraq would require US occupation of the country for many more years, and (what especially terrifies me!!) could rapidly ESCALATE in ways that are too horrifying to imagine.

And HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST?? As we are losing many of our basic City services because money is so tight, and so many people are losing jobs??!! Where were we going to get the $30 billion that we promised Turkey in "grants and loans" for helping us stage the invasion?

The Global Vigil was called by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Rev. Bob Edgar of the National Council of Churches and many other organizations.

The website is globalvigil.org. Check it out and see if even more communities and countries are represented.

JOIN US.
